Resubmission of Utmost cleen project (reshaped)

In 2022, this project secured the top spot among 11 projects for KT funding. However, after a year of rigorous negotiations with the company Daphne Technologies, a mutually favourable agreement for CERN could not be finalized. Consequently, the funds were returned to the KT fund in 2023. A revised proposal has been submitted, intended to sustain the project until a new appropriate partner is found. This is an updated recommendation.

Development of a compact and durable Electron Beam Flue Gas Treatment (EBFGT) technology for the maritime and semiconductor industry to remove pollutants by converting and filtering out harmful by-products before the exhaust gas/ fumes are released. The project aims to develop and simulate membrane prototypes for beam windows capable of withstanding significant pressure differences. Emphasis is on material selection, vacuum compatibility, stacking configurations, and micro-structuring. The initial phase, focusing on design and simulations, is progressing well. However, funding is sought to sustain the project until a new industrial partner is secured. The ultimate objective is to incorporate the Flue Gas Treatment technology into carbon capture systems, reducing emissions from maritime vessels and semiconductor production.
