João joined the CERN Knowledge Transfer Group in August 2017 as a Knowledge Transfer Officer, with main responsibility for detector technologies.
João holds a Master’s Degree in Bioengineering (branch of Biomedical Engineering) from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal. During his Masters, he did a scientific internship related to medical imaging in the Department of Computer Science of the Aalto University, Finland.
In 2013, João joined the Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Life Sciences (IBILI), in Coimbra, to be enrolled in an European Project related to Neurofeedback and Brain-Computer Interfaces, working mainly with EEG and neurophysiological signal processing and machine learning. This project gave him a first experience, not only in the neuroscience field, but also in the design, submission and development of clinical studies and certification of medical devices.
In 2016, he joined a very new start-up project in Porto, also related to neurotechnology, in which he worked in real-time EEG analysis and software development and developed his multidisciplinary background.
