SF6-free S-band circulator for photo injectors
SF6 is a highly polluting greenhouse gas used in high-power waveguide circulators, which are key Radio-Frequency devices used in particle accelerators, whether for particle physics or medical purposes. The goal of the project is to remove the need for SF6 in one of two ways: developing a circulator able to operate with more environmentally-friendly gases, or developing a circulator operating in vacuum, entirely eliminating the need for a gas altogether.
